Souvenir from Uttar Pradesh, made from local wood by artisans in Saharanpur, was just the right prop to capture the vision that the world is hungry for handmade crafts.

Once limited to remote shops, tourist stops and small hatt, Indian made handicraft has now access to the world's top city and exclusive shelf space in branded shops.

Megan Smith, a high profile designer who worked for few of the top consumer brand has spend time in Banaras, India, to educate hand-loom weavers of silk on changing the design to cater international demands. With few changes in design, the products gave more contemporary look. The new design was debuted at textile show in Paris inviting international buyers to order the new product.
